Meditation

Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state. In meditation, the mind is clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused. Meditation requires an inner state that is still and one-pointed so that the mind becomes silent. When the mind is silent and no longer distracts you, meditation deepens.

Asana

Traditionally defined as the seated posture, used for meditation, from the Sanskrit meaning “seat”. The term is now commonly used to refer to any physical Hatha yoga posture.

Asana practice is important to keep the physical body healthy. The body is the vehicle for the soul, looking after the physical body is vital for spiritual development.

Asana postures help to increase flexibility and strength, whilst stimulating physiological systems of the body, such as circulatory, immune, digestive and nervous systems.

Regular asana practice will develop mindfulness, discipline and concentration, preparing the mind for pranayama and meditation.

Pranayama

The practice of breath regulation. It’s a main component of yoga, and an exercise for physical and mental wellness. In Sanskrit, “prana” means life energy and “yama” means control. The practice of pranayama involves breathing exercises and patterns.
